Hotels in Hong Kong With a Pool
Whether you’re a swimmer or not, having a pool in your backyard can be an amazing addition to any home. The investment will pay off over time as you reap the benefits of a more comfortable living space, increased value and a better chance of selling your house. However, it’s important to know what your options are when considering a new swimming pool. Pools are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, with different features and accessories, so it’s essential to choose the right one for your budget and lifestyle.
There are 44 public swimming pools in Hong Kong managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), including nine in Hong Kong Island, 13 in Kowloon and 22 in the New Territories. Most of the pools are open throughout the year, but there are some that only operate during summer, and many are crowded on weekends.
A lot of the LCSD-managed swimming pools have long been considered overcrowded. The problem has been compounded by a shortage of lifeguards. In 2004, the LCSD slashed the number of lifeguards from around 2,400 to 1,580, and the union has spoken out against it, with some swimming pools posting protest signage. The LCSD has attempted to address the issue by raising lifeguard salaries and hiring staff on two-year contracts.
Whether you’re on vacation or planning a staycation, swimming is a great way to cool off and relax. There are plenty of hotel and resort pools in Hong Kong, but they tend to be crowded with locals. If you want to avoid the crowds, look for a hidden gem or visit during the weekday. Here are some of the best hotels in Hong Kong with a pool to make your next splash a memorable one!
