The Hongkong Prize
The hongkong prize is one of Asia’s top writing competitions, attracting entrants from all over the world. Winners receive monetary rewards and the opportunity to showcase their work at an awards ceremony. This contest is a great way for writers to establish themselves within the industry and build a portfolio. However, it is important to read all rules and regulations carefully before submitting an entry. This will ensure that your submission is deemed fair and does not violate any guidelines.
Established in 1996, this award honors the memory of Professor Wang Gungwu, who loved collecting historical documents. Friends and students of his raised funds to establish the award, which aims to encourage undergraduate and postgraduate students in Hong Kong to nurture their interest in history and strive for academic excellence. The award has attracted the support of universities, researchers and innovative enterprises.
The prize celebrates individuals who are making a difference in the world through their endeavours and research work. Previous winners have included journalists who expose human rights abuses and activists who risk their lives for freedom of speech, as well as scientists who innovated liquid biopsy to help detect cancer earlier. The symbol of the prize, expressed in both the logo and trophies conferred to winners, juxtaposes two precious elements: a pearl and a pierced jade amulet, highlighting the importance of the link between Hong Kong and the world.
This award is open to all scientists who have published scientific research that has a direct impact on society. The prize offers a monetary reward and access to Hong Kong’s premier research facilities, enabling scientists to advance their careers in one of Asia’s most vibrant science hubs. HKSTIP also provides a platform for scientists to connect with Hong Kong’s world-leading companies and research institutions.
In addition to the prize money, all winners will have the opportunity to attend an international conference and present their research results to a broad audience of peers and experts. Applicants should have outstanding records of publications and have made significant contributions to the advancement of scientific research in their respective fields.
